
FamilyWorks’ Comprehensive Program
Since 1978, FamilyWorks has provided multi-faceted programs for the community. Services include: psychotherapy, temperament assessment and training, therapeutic visitation, psycho-educational groups, and informative articles for parents in FamilyWorks Magazine. FamilyWorks’ facility is located in the heart of Marin County with easy freeway access and ample free parking.
Multi-Systems Model
FamilyWorks provides a comprehensive multi-systems model comprised of many theoretical orientations including: Psychodynamic, Object Relations, Family Systems, Control Mastery, Cognitive Behavioral, Narrative, Transpersonal, Inter-Subjective, Expressive Arts, Emotion-Focused, Dialectic Behavior, and Somatic theories and practices. The warm and nurturing therapy rooms are welcoming for individuals, couples, and families and include those designed for sand-play, art, music, and movement.
Hours
Trainees and interns will spend approximately 20-25 hours per week. This may include up to:
10-12 client hours on site (individual and group, including intakes).
2 client hours (for up to 6 months) at a local childcare center as a Temperament Consultant.
4 hours per week of training and Supervision (see below).
3 hours of in-direct client services (completing Temperament Profiles, preparing client materials, completing case notes, sharing in counseling related administrative duties).
2-4 hours per week conducting therapeutic visitations.
2 hours of group facilitation in depression prevention new parents’ groups.
2 hours of group facilitation in W.H.A.T.’s U.P. -- groups for middle school teens.Interns working at FamilyWorks receive ample opportunity to meet the BBS requirements of 500 child/family hours.
Training
Weekly training each Wednesday offers didactic and experiential education in practical, legal, ethical, and theoretical frameworks. Speakers, who are experts in their field, enrich the trainings with their wealth of knowledge and experience
Supervision
Trainees and interns benefit from three sources of supervision:
Two hours of case conference/group supervision, each Wednesday (10:00 a.m. to noon)
One hour of individual supervision each week
Daily availability of FamilyWorks’ licensed therapists for consultation and supervision.
